How to choose your wedding DJ.

I am often asked what to look for in a DJ. There are a few key things that you will want to look for.

  • Experience

  • Personality

  • Reliability

  • Comfort

Your wedding is going to be a once in a lifetime event. Make sure you take time to properly choose entertainment. Guests will spend the majority of your wedding day at the reception. That being said, you want a DJ with some experience. Someone that makes you feel at ease. You should get a feeling that the DJ will take care of your reception and guide you through the appropriate activities. Look for someone that listens to your ideas and combines them with their experience to make the reception of your dreams.

MEET THE PERSON THAT WILL BE AT YOUR EVENT. I would encourage you to meet the DJ that will be doing your event before signing a contract. Personality is key. Get a feel for the DJ's personality. Is that the personality you want in front of all your friends and family?

Reliability is important. You don't want a DJ that will cancel on you a couple weeks before your wedding (at that point it will be near impossible to find a replacement).

Lastly, look for comfort with your choice. If you feel like you have been "sold" or pressured into something by a DJ company, that is a bad thing. You should just have a general feeling of comfort with your choice of a DJ. Be cautious of the DJ that might be a better salesman than a DJ.
